'A Contemplation' (November 2023, watercolor on A4-sized cold-pressed paper). Reply to this email to purchase.

Aloha fam! How are you? 🌺

As with most of my paintings, this one took a long time. XD But here she is!

(Note: SPOILERS AHEAD!)

Actually, I've had this mental image of Sophie for a while. It's from the scene where she, Heloïse and Marianne are standing by the door of the house of the lady who performs the abortion later on.

There's something about the way that Sophie looked there that I liked. But I wanted the background to be different.

So I suppose it was just the aesthetics of it that caught my attention at first.

In the scene, she seems to be anxious - who wouldn't, right?

She paces around, looking at her companions...

But she seems determined and musters up the courage within her.

What were your thoughts on that scene?

How are you?

I'm taking things one step at a time.

First: I started sketching Noémie (shoutout to Mary for sharing the pics!):

Let's see how it goes!

Second: sorting out my thoughts by journaling (it's really just writing on one page) before going to bed.

Third: taking breaks from work (e.g. taking a 5-min. walk around the block).

Fourth: rewarding myself by watching season 3 of Derry Girls or trying out some affordable food places (or cooking what I want to eat).

Fifth: I watched Everything, Everywhere All at Once (2022). Three of my friends and patrons recommended it (shoutout to Ros, Randall and Tresha!), so I got really curious. :3

With no expectations, not even having seen the trailer nor read the synopsis - but only knowing that Michelle Yeoh's in it - gosh, was I in for a surprise!

I won't share too much in case you haven't seen it yet, but I'll say this: it was hella creative. Go watch it! 👍🏼

What helps you decompress? Let me know in the comments!

Have a great week! Much love, Rose
